Our last month in Korea and beyond...

Hello ALL!!! Sorry it has been a while but we have been very busy! From packing up the apartment into four check-in bags, two carry-on bags, and two carry-on personal item bags, saying our tearful goodbyes, going on vacation, and flying half way around the world...to say the least we have been a little busy. Not to say that the blog is not worth our time but it was not at the top of the "to do" list, so I am sorry.

Well we are currently in Florida visiting Maria's parents and trying to ease our way back into reality. We are going to do an east coast tour visiting friends and family along the way. So if you read this we might come to see you!

Korea was hard to leave. Getting our apartment ready to leave was the first challenge. In one year you accumulate a lot of stuff to make a space feel like home. So, we spent time sorting through things to keep and take to the thrift store. We had help from some of our thankful friends to help take some of our stuff and to help hawl it to the thrift store. One year in Korea you tend to accumulate other things called friends. Those are the hardest things to leave behind because we had been through some many challenges and just life in a different country, but everyone comes and goes at different times. I am just so happy to have met our friends because we couldn't of made it with out there love and support. I feel like I have proven myself as a man to all of you at some point or form in life so I feel OK about saying that I cried like a little baby. It is true all of the cab ride to the us terminal and in the terminal. Luckily the night before we went to the Norae bong for one last singing time together and was able to get some of it out then because if not I might of been crying the whole time on the airplane too. It was great Chris, Angie and Sara slept over our last night and we had a great time. Chris and I got to spoon one last time and just spend every last second with them. I have to say that we had some of the best friends in all of Korea, why stop there, all of the world. They had a going away party for us, "Korean theme." Our friends from Seoul came down it was a blast, "Truly a Night to Remember." I think that was the theme to my high school prom. I think that the pictures speak louder than words. Maria was on a mission to go up every motel in the area. Green Peace, Statue of Liberty, The Taus Mahoul, The Cinema, and the one with the horses on the roof, (not real horses statues.) I made it up one but did not make it on the other missions. I think it was three am and I was out of commission. Everyone looked great and did a good job dressing up for the party.

So before heading back to the U. S. of A. we wanted to spoil ourselves with three weeks in Thailand. So we did. We took a 5 hour flight from Seoul to Bangkok, actually we stopped in Beijing for a few hours to pick up some Olympic key chains. OK not really but we did have a layover for a few hours, so we had some BBQ rabbit. It was pretty good, a little spicy. Got to Bangkok late and stayed in a hotel for the night. We wanted to go south to the beach first for about a week and a half so we hopped a bus. They do overnight buses which is nice so you don't have to pay for a night in a hotel. That meant we had all day in Bangkok to do some site seeing. It was nice we went to the grand palace and a really old temple with a really old famous Buddha. It was really cool but it rained really hard in the taxi it felt like what you would see in the movies of Thailand. That's the way I felt. We got to the bus station and got on the bus and headed to Krabi. It took twelve hours but the bus was very nice and they even gave us a muffin and soy milk to drink. They showed Thai music videos and let me tell you they are so dramatic. All of them were about love. My favorite was the one were the guy was singing but dieing in the hospital. He sings until he is dead and then they bring him back and the second he comes back he starts to sing again. To say the least Maria got really emotionally involved with these videos and always had questions of concern after every one. The whole trip she didn't stop talking about those videos.

We stayed at a nice place off of the beach the first few nights for like twelve dollars a night. Everything in Thailand is very cheap and is a great place to go for a cheaper vacation. A lot of places people rely only on tourists. Let me tell you there are a lot of travelers in Thailand especially in the areas that we were in. The water was so blue and the cliffs jetting out of the water were amazing. We took the four island tour which included snorkeling. That is what Maria and I wanted to do most so we did that at every place we went. It was amazing, it was like snorkeling in an aquarium. Coral, bright fish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, clown fish, angle fish, and star fish. It was great and we became friends with our tour guide. Later in the week he took us hiking to a lagoon and a cave. He took us to the local market and gave Maria a cooking lesson at his house. We had this fish and it was amazing. Of course we cooked it whole and the sauce was so good. He took us camping on one of the islands with the good snorkeling and we ate fresh fish and squid right on the fire. It was a great time.

After the beach we went up to the northern part of Thailand. It was very different but fun and beautiful. It was full of orchids, elephants, cooking classes, motor bike rides, windy roads, and good food. Well there was good food throughout the whole trip but we had a lovely time. We hated to leave but it was great to get back in the states to see the family and are enjoying a little bit of down time. Well if you are still ready this thanks I know it was a little long but a lot happens in a month and a half! Hope all is well and enjoy the pictures!!!!! Go Phillies!!! Ethan
