Wednesday update

Hello! Maria here! Our students just got their first letters back from their penpals in North Carolina. They were SO excited! I wish I could have captured the excitement on their faces when they first got them. This is a video right after this class read their letters. Are they cute or what??? Many thanks to The Learning Community School for being great penpals!

I have really been enjoying teaching lately. I've realized that the more creative I am, the more fun it is for me....and of course, the kids. I found this book this week that is one of those "scratch and sniff" Christmas books. I think I remember this book from my childhood, actually. Well, the pages really smell like Christmas. The best are the Christmas tree and candy cane pages. I tell them: "my house, in America smells like this on Christmas." Their reaction is always so shocked and impressed. You know, they don't really have Christmas trees or many Christmas decorations here, so they find it very fun to learn about Christmas in the US,

I am SO relieved to report that Ethan's wrist is healing, and now he can lift it more on his own. He's still going to physical therapy daily, and he wears a brace part of the day. Keep praying that it continues to get better!

Ethan and I just had a lovely evening stroll in the city. You might not know this, but there is GREAT hot chocolate in Korea. When all else fails, the hot chocolate continues to be a safe bet.

I hope you are all getting plently of chances to snuggle up with some good hot chocolate lately too! Hang in there...the weekend's about halfway there for you!

Ethan and Marie,
Sorry I haven't been much of a pen-pal or I guess I should say one at all. I'm glad both of ya'll are feeling better. Ethan, hurting your arm sleeping, couldn't you have come up with something better than that.
Maria, you would be proud of me. Last night I made my official pledge not to shop or enter Wal-Mart unless I have to for work (and that I will try to avoid). We took the kids to do Christmas shopping and...well I won't go into details, it makes me kind of nauseous. Elodie and I have seriously reconsidered how the Christmas Holidays will look for our own kids one day. I hope your cough goes away soon and yes your kids are very, very cute.
Ethan, aw, how I miss the days of eating Mexican and having a BIG beer for lunch. I still wear my McNabb jersey around the house even though I get made fun of by Adam our 11 year old. Sad to say he is a band wagon fan and sports a Brady jersey and a Patriots hat. I can only hope and pray that one day he sees the light. Man have we missed you this fall. I believed Dan smoked some of the best ribs I've ever had for the Dawgs stomping of the bubble bees. Will see what we can do about having you watch the Sugar Bowl with us "Between the Hedges" at Dan's house. How can we refuse a man's only Christmas Wish. I don't know what's on your calendar for Oct. 25, 2008 but we plan on making a trip to watch the Dawgs pound this years soon to be National Champs.
We miss you but are glad that ya'll are enjoying this incredible journey. I'll try to stay more in touch.
GO DAWGS!
Jason
