Some Random Things we Like About Korea

- refillable side dishes in restaurants
- public transportation- inexpensive and efficient
- being oblivious about work gossip
- no crime
- fashion- (it's the 80's here, and we like it)
- strawberry season
- being celebrities wherever you go
- bamboo
- "nori bangs"- literally translated "singing rooms" may sound hoaky but they're serious fun!
- still learning new cultural facts every day (today I learned that babies receive gold on their first birthday, then one day they sell it to help pay for college!)
- discovering new vegetables and fruits
- "jimje bangs," spas...stay as long as you want for $4 or so
- no tipping EVER, it's insulting to them
- hair stylists
- parties on our roof top
- sparklers....indoors to celebrate birthdays
- coffee machines...$.20 in the machine, and there's your dixie-cup full of sweet coffee. These are anywhere you go.
- we can watch tv on our cell phones
- crazy flavors of toothpaste (pine, green tea, bamboo, apricot, etc,) and our all natural toothbrushes
- still discovering new things in our neighborhood after all this time
- stationary stores....you can't understand until you go
- listening to Ethan order pizza over the phone in English, with a Korean accent. I plan to catch it on video next time.
- dinners once a month with our group of foreigners and English-speaking Koreans
- the flowers that will soon be blooming
- Korean children...though a million times cuter when they are controling themselves
- bowing
